Problems on Serial Lines (Modems, etc.)

No characters at all: Check wiring (null modem?).
Mad characters or no characters at all: Check line speed.
Mad characters/carrier lost: Disable MNP5 or other compression.

Problems on Ethernet

No characters at all - cable problems: Call expert.

Very slow transfer - overload problem: Check whether others have the same problem.
Security check (X-Windows) failed.
Communication software failure (on PC): Reboot.

Communication Problems on Various Configurations

Bells all the time: Previous session possibly running, kill it .
Keyboard locked: Unlock with <CTRL><Q>.
Screen saver with wrong password: Check CAPSLOCK key.
Screen saver malfunction: System unstable, ask expert or reboot.
